Rockhampton Campus – CQU
The Rockhampton Campus of Central Queensland University serves as the university’s main campus and administrative center. The campus offers a traditional university experience within acres of parklands which includes 30 academic buildings, restaurants, the main library, tropical gardens, shops, bookstores, sports clubs, swimming pool and gymnasium.
The campus offers programs in law, business, property, environmental management, engineering, science, occupational health and safety, information technology, arts, nursing, medical science, education and aviation technology.
Located within CQUniversity’s grounds is the Capricornia College. The college operates as an academic residential community to allow students more opportunities to pursue academic work, make new friends, or develop new hobbies and skills.
Students of CQUniversity may opt to apply for accommodation at Capricornia College.
In Capricornia, each resident student’s bedroom is provided with desk, chair, built-in wardrobe, fan, bookcase and curtains. All rooms are fully carpeted and fly screened with private and individual telephones with local, interstate and overseas access as well as voice mail facilities.
The common room is equipped with commercial and satellite television, resident’s bar and billiards and table tennis tables.
The CQUniversity Student Association also offers help in finding accommodation for new students.
Rockhampton promotes itself as the Beef Capital of Australia, but more than that, this city has a lot more to offer to its visitors.
This city lies on the Fitzroy River that offers lots of activities to tourists that includes skiing, boating, and fishing. The Riverbank Parklands is also one attraction that can be found along the Fitzroy River.
Rockhampton is a birth place of artists. The Rockhampton Arts Gallery houses the works of some of Australia’s greatest artists and the while the Philbeam Theater is home for the city’s performing arts.
Other interesting places in Rockhampton are: Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, Rockhampton Zoo, Kershaw Gardens, Archer Park Steam Tram Museum and the Rockhampton Heritage village.
