About Melbourne CBD
The Melbourne CBD, also known as Central City or simply The City, encompasses the two oldest areas of Melbourne: the Hoddle Grid and the Queen Victoria Market. It is not to be confused with the local government area of the city of Melbourne, as the former is the area established in 1835 and is under the Melbourne Planning Scheme. This area houses numerous big-time companies like the Rio Tinto Group, NAB, Telstra and a many others.
